March finds us still in California. We have been here since October, it's the longest we have spent in one place since we started full timing. While here we have made numerous short sightseeing trips and in March we added two more to our list.
In mid March we met Joans brother in Palm Springs. He lives in San Diego and had been wanting to see Palm Springs for quite some time. We drove over on a Friday traveling secondary roads from Lake Elsinore. The trip was beautiful and uneventful until just before we arrived. The last stretch of road that comes down off the mountain has a pretty serious drop and several switchbacks and since Joan is prone to motion sickness and this piece of road did the trick. Once we got down into Palm Springs she was fine.
JD and Rebecca met us on Saturday (someone needs to work) and we spent the weekend enjoying the sights, restraunts and nightlife. The downtown entertainment district is loaded with nice restraunts and clubs and really hops on the weekend. We spent Saturday night restraunt hopping, we had drinks and appetizers in one restraunt, dinner in a second and if we would have had any room left we had planned to have our desert in a third. What fun.
After Palm Springs we traveled to Imperial, CA for the 2005 Escapees Spring Escapade. While we have been members of the Escapees since last year this was our first rally. It took place at the fairgrounds in Imperial California. Over a thousand Escapees met for a week of entertainment, visiting old friends, making new ones, seminars and SHOPPING. Over a hundred vendors where present selling everything under the sun. Some of the seminars that where available where: Geocaching, digital photography, wireless internet for 2005, working on the road, genealogy and fire safety. The Escapees group has two of these rallys each year, spring and fall. The fall Escapade will be September 25-30, 2005.
