Our Lone Rock House

Joan and I decided we needed a place to spend spring and fall and we needed a hobbie so when this house became available we bought it. It's located in Lone Rock, a small town in north central Iowa, Joan's mother was raised here and moved back here 16 years ago.

The house is 100 years old and was the first house built in the town. We bought it from the builders Grandson. It has been neglected and will be a long term project. It has a new roof and power service but is gutted (makes it easier to put in the new wiring and plumbing). Right now it is an RV pad with a very large storage building. We will take possesion in the late summer.

Update August 2008 - We completed the purchase and have begun work. The first item was installing the RV pad behind the house. We now have a full hookup, 50 amp pad for us and a 50 amp, water and electric guest pad alongside the house. We've completed some repairs on the first floor, load bearing wall replacement, kitchen ceiling re-inforcement and the new kitchen opening. Joan is in the process of gutting the second floor for her new sewing room and the future guest suite. Dwight and Helen are helping alot.
